I am a writer, librarian, and linguist who earned a BA in English studies with a minor in creative writing in May 2007 from Illinois State University, an MS in library and information science in May 2009 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MS in English studies with an emphasis in linguistics in December 2011 from Illinois State University. I wrote my English studies thesis on multiple modals in American English. I wrote the Teach a Student to Read reading program, Teach a Student to Spell series (ongoing), and A Form-Function English Grammar series (ongoing).
I currently reside in a small town in Illinois with my husband, four children, two dogs, and two cats where I spend my days homeschooling my children and writing about language. In addition to my linguistics posts, I also share some of my homeschooling curriculum and reading suggestions. I love Christmas and Marvel. My favorite superhero is Captain America. Cats make the internet worthwhile. My English is from the St. Louis Corridor of the Inland North of American English.
